Bodgers’ Ball 2016

2016 – National Trust Tyntesfield, Wraxall near Bristol.

The Bodgers’ Ball is an annual celebration of all forms of green woodworking. Coinciding with the annual general meeting of the Association of Pole-Lathe Turners and Green Woodworkers, the Ball is a three-day festival of woodcraft demonstrations, courses and competitions.

After much persuasion from very good friends, I reluctantly entered two of my chairs (‘picket fence’ chair and child’s seesaw double rocker) into one of the Bodgers Ball competitions so I was stunned and delighted to be awarded 1st place in two categories – “Armchair” and “Other Wooden Item”! The competition was fierce, with so many highly-skilled green woodworkers entering their finest items for this renowned event, so I was amazed to be awarded any kind of recognition for my skills.
