Autumn Countryside Show 2017

Weald and Downland Museum, October 2017.

I was exhibiting and demonstrating the craft of green wood chairmaking at the Autumn Countryside Show at the Weald and Downland Museum in Singleton, near Chichester and saw they were holding a craft competition at the event.

Obviously, I only had the chairs with me that were being exhibited on my demonstration stall so for fun I entered my little ‘Snakes and Ladders’ child’s side chair. You may remember that this quirky little chair won a 2nd place at the Bodgers’ Ball earlier in the year so I wasn’t holding out much hope of it being placed again.

The competition was judged in secret and guess what? It had been given 1st Place! I received a nice rosette and a certificate. Woohoo! I also got to meet Percy the scarecrow – isn’t he fabulous?
